Why conduct an interview with an individual whose work has been so completely discredited?
David – thanks for the comment. We didn’t interview Wolfe-Simon
about the discredited arsenic paper, but about signatures for life in
general, an area where she remains qualified to comment. Listeners
can decide whether the errors Wolfe-Simon made on her paper were
so egregious, they undermine her ability to be a capable scientist.
We don’t think so. She did not commit fraud. We approached her
as an astrobiologist who might have something thoughtful to
say on this subject. And she did. – Molly
It wasn’t fraudulent, but it was egregiously bad science.
